Due to dyslexia, I noticed that there is hardly any difference between the Dutch words Giraffe (giraf) and Graaf (count), so I built a peace monument.
If in 1568, in Belgium, the Giraffe Lamoraal van Egmond had been beheaded instead of Count (Graaf in Dutch) Lamoraal van Egmond, then there probably would not have been the 80-year war and we would now be living in Spain. I built this historic sculpture from materials that would otherwise be used as ammunition in Ukraine.
At the time, Hieronymus Bosch painted giraffes, the first in Europe to be seen in the Museo del Prado, among others. One of those paintings is, for example, ‘Zondvloed en Hel’ from the collection of Museum Boijmans. This is a panel of which the 3rd is missing. It is therefore possible that Bosch painted the Giraffe van Egmond on this. That’s why I would like to add the 3rd panel to this.
