Antilla

With underwater photos, drawings and text in Papiamento, Dutch, English and Spanish. The story was written for me by Liliane Erasmus, based on the myth about the shipwreck De Antilla, Hardcover, full color, 103 pages. 27 x 23

Antilla a four-part children’s book (English, Spanish, Papiamento and Dutch about a German Captain who sank his own ship off Aruba at the beginning of World War II, after which he and the sailors spent the war by building their own prison on Bonaire. After the war, the sailors left for Germany, tanned and healthy. The captain returned to dive for materials from his ship, which he sold and with the proceeds bought the Prison to start the first Hotel there. I distributed this book for free to all 10-year-olds on Aruba.
