At the Dutch grand prix in Zandvoort in 1973 is formula one driver David Purly is the only person trying to save fellow driver Roger Williamson from a burning car wreck. The firefighters and emergency services don’t step in, if they had Williamson’s life would probably have been saved.
As a small child and big formula one fan, it was the first time I saw someone die on live television. This was very shocking.
Cars and race cars signify deadly danger to me. Danger is both stupid and sexy.
